How to Play

Pick a scale from the top row, or leave it on Random. Choose a direction — ascending, descending, or both.

Play the notes using your MIDI keyboard or click the on-screen keys. Any octave counts — just get the right note name.

Correct notes flash green and advance. Wrong notes flash red and show you what was expected — play the right note to continue.

Streak counts consecutive perfect rounds. One mistake resets it.

Mastery

Each scale tracks your progress. Get 3 perfect rounds at each difficulty level to advance:

Silver — 3 clean rounds in Guided

Gold — 3 clean rounds in Shadow

Master — 3 clean rounds in Blind

Your progress is shown as a colored bar under each scale button.

Difficulty Modes

Guided — all scale notes are highlighted on the keyboard with labels. Great for learning new keys.

Shadow — only the root note is marked. You need to know the scale from memory.

Blind — the keyboard is hidden entirely. Pure ear and muscle memory.

Training Flow

Free Play is the default — the piano works as a regular instrument. Chords work too!

Hit Start to begin a drill. Complete the scale or hit Stop to bail out.

After each round, your results are logged in the Session Log at the bottom.

Melody Mode

Switch to Melody Mode using the tab at the top. Notes from famous melodies fall toward the keyboard — play them as they cross the hit zone.

Pick a melody and key, then hit Play. Score points for each hit, build streak multipliers, and earn a rating (S/A/B/C/D) at the end.

Chord Mode

Progression — pick a progression (I-IV-V-I, Pop, Jazz ii-V-I, etc.) and a key. Play each chord in order. Any voicing or inversion works — the app matches by pitch class.

Free Chord — play any notes and the app identifies the chord in real-time, including inversion.

Jam Mode

Pick a key and jam freely. Every in-key note scores +1, every out-of-key note scores -1. Scale notes are highlighted on the keyboard to help you learn.

Hit Start Jam to begin, Stop Jam when you're done. See your accuracy and score at the end.

Circle Walk

Quiz — build the circle of fifths from memory. C is given, pick what comes next from the scrambled choices.

Play — walk through all 12 keys playing each scale. Clean completion advances, mistakes retry.

Progress is saved automatically. Stop and resume anytime.

Tips

MIDI keyboards require Chrome or Edge. The on-screen keyboard works in any browser.

Use the MIDI Monitor at the bottom to debug your MIDI connection.
